A Breast Cancer Awareness and Screening Day

The Ibn Khaldoun Medical Center (CMIK) marked Pink October, the annual breast cancer awareness campaign, through a notable event in collaboration with the Tunisian Oncology Group (GOCT), the Health Group, and the Junior Chamber International (JCI). The day, rich in activities and exchanges, sought to educate the local community on the importance of early detection and to advocate for improved care for women at risk.

A day that began with a solidarity walk:

The event began with a one-hour walk in solidarity, including CMIK staff, JCI members and members of the Health Group. This symbolic walk through the streets aimed to capture the public's attention and spread awareness messages. During the march, informative flyers were distributed to passers-by announcing a free screening day to be held at the Ibn Khaldoun Medical Center.

Three Tents Dedicated to Health and Prevention:

At the end of the walk, participants made their way to the CMIK, where three tents had been set up for the day:
1. The breast cancer awareness tent: A space where health experts provided comprehensive information on prevention methods, early signs to be alert for, and the benefits of early detection.
2. The breast cancer screening tent: Health professionals offered free clinical examinations to participants, performing breast palpations and recommending, if necessary, complementary tests such as mammography.
3. General health tent: Because chronic disease prevention is also essential, this tent offered blood pressure and blood sugar testing services. These simple but crucial examinations enabled participants to check their general health and identify any potential risks associated with hypertension or diabetes.

Group therapy :

This is a therapy led by the psychologist Dr. Faycal Kaabi (on the CMIK premises), particularly for patients already suffering from cancer and already undergoing treatment: it's a simple approach, focusing on emotional support and the management of difficulties linked to the disease.
